Counter-terrorism training compulsory now that the new licence-linked qualifications have launched

Terror threat awareness was already part of the licence-linked qualifications. The new qualifications include the latest guidance from both the National Counter Terrorism Security Office and the Centre for Protection of National Infrastructure.

Top-up qualifications also contain updated terror threat content for door supervisors and security officers.

The new assessments include questions relating to counter-terrorism.

We have created an e-learning course called ACT Security that is specifically designed for security operatives. We have authorised training providers to accept your ACT Awareness and ACT Security certificates as evidence of your participation in the course.

People working in the private security industry can get free online counter-terrorism training from the National Counter Terrorism Security Office (NaCTSO).

Action Counters Terrorism (ACT) e-learning

ACT Awareness

ACT Awareness is one of a range of courses built to support the Action Counters Terrorism (ACT) initiative. It takes around 45 minutes to complete.

ACT Security

ACT Security is a specialised training course for front line security operatives. It takes around 75 minutes to complete. The course provides up-to-date counter-terrorism knowledge that will help you prepare for, and respond to, terrorist incidents whilst on duty.

To take these courses

  1. Send us an emailwith the subject “PIN request for ACT e-learning”. We will reply with your PIN.
  2. Go to the ACT e-learning site.
  3. When you are asked for your access/PIN code, enter the PIN we sent you.

ACT e-learning counts towards your licence-linked qualification

SIA licence-linked qualifications include a section on terror threat awareness. Together, the 2 ACT e-learning courses cover this material. So, you will not need to take that part of the training if you:

  • save your certificates of completion (available for download when you complete the e-learning)
  • show your certificates to your training provider
